EU to Search Engines: Listen to our Words, Not Deeds

An EU advisory body has found that Google, Yahoo and Microsoft fail to comply with EU requirements that search engines delete or anonymize search log data, including IP addresses and search queries, no later than six months after their collection and ensure that the anonymized data cannot be linked back to an individual.  This, however, comes at the same time that the EU itself is reserving the right to retain user search data under the guise of fighting child pornography.
