OMG! SCOTUS says Gov Workers’ Text Messages Can Be Searched.

The Supreme Court upheld the City of Ontario, CA’s search of a SWAT Team members text messages after he exceeded usage limits.   The search revealed most messages were not work related and many were sexually explicit, resulting in the officer being disciplined.   The Court cited the City’s written policy that “[u]sers should have no expectation of privacy or confidentiality” when using its computers and the narrow scope of the city’s search in ruling for the city.
