Feds Take Over Top Gambling Sites

The Justice Department has shut down PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker for violating federal gambling laws.  The Justice Department claims that the off-shore sites sought to circumvent U.S. prohibition of online gambling by routing payments through faux e-commerce companies and corrupt banks.  The move comes at a time when the legalization movement has stalled as House Republicans, especially Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bauchus, remain opposed to lifting the ban.
