Canadian Email Law Postponed to 2013

In December 2010 Canada passed email and wireless anti-spam legislation which would not go into effect until regulations were finalized. In March 2012, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) released its final regulation, but the act still requires Industry Canada to also issue final regulations. So when might that occur? Last month Minister Christian Paradis answered this indirectly when he remarked that the new legislation was expected “to take effect next year.”

Silverpop provides a useful infographic of the CRTC final regulations.
